Hyperbaric Medicine

At the Burn and Reconstructive Center at Blake Hospital, Dr. Van Vliet directs the Hyperbaric Medicine program.  Having completed additional training following his fellowships, Dr. Van Vliet has been awarded a certificate of added qualification from the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine Society.  The hyperbaric program is the only 24/7 critical care ready hyperbaric chamber in the state of Florida.  Patients are often transported from all over the state to treat a wide variety of ailments, including carbon monoxide poisoning, crush injuries, air embolisms, decompression sickness, and necrotizing soft tissue infections.  In addition to the emergent indications, Dr. Van Vliet and his staff also treat diabetic wounds, bone infections, late effects from radiation, and issues related to arterial blockage.
